Easy Instant Pot Mashed Potatoes

No Drain

These are the easiest mashed potatoes to make! It uses just enough liquid to cook the potatoes without having to drain them before mashing.

They take about 30 minutes from prep to table.

Ingredients

Russet potatoes - about 3 pounds 1/2 cup water 1/4 cup milk 4 Tablespoons butter Salt and pepper to taste Garlic powder - 1/2 teaspoon optional

Peel and cut the potatoes into large bite sized chunks

Put the potatoes into the inner pot and pour the water over them. Pressure cook on high for 6 minutes.  Do a quick release.

Once the pin drops, remove the lid.  You shouldn't need to drain the potatoes.  The little bit of liquid left will go into mashing them. You can mash in the inner pot or a mixing bowl.

Add in the milk, butter, salt, pepper and garlic powder (optional.)

Use either a potato masher to mash them or a hand mixer to whip the potatoes.

We like to top with melted butter and parsley sprinkled on top as a garnish, but this is optional.
