Ingredients
1 double crust for 10 inch pie
7 cups apples peeled and sliced
1 Tablespoon lemon juice
1 Tablespoon sugar
1 teaspoon cinnamon
Sauce for apple pie
4 Tablespoons butter
2 Tablespoons flour
2 Tablespoons water
½ cup dark brown sugar packed
Roll out the bottom crust and place into the bottom of the pie dish.Optional - brush a thin layer of a beaten egg over the bottom crust. This helps prevent a soggy crust.
Place top crust on top of apples. If not doing lattice, be sure to put 4 slits in the top crust - about 2 inches long.This is important to allow it to vent as it cooks.
If you have an old baking sheet, place the pie on it. You can cover a pan with foil as well. This helps prevent soggy crust and a mess if the filling bubbles out.
